Raju Kher is the younger brother of
Anupam Kher and well-known face of Indian Film and TV industry. Born in Kashmir in 1957 he completed his education from Himachal Pradesh and then he came to Mumbai to try his luck in Bollywood.
His debut film was
Jackie Shroff and Dimple starter Kaash and directed by Mahesh Bhat. It was a very small role of film director aka Alas. Since then he has played mainly character roles in movie and TV serials.
Some of his known films are Prem, Shyam Ghanshyam, Ghaath, Jungle (2000) - Mr. Malhotra, Om Jai Jagadish (directed by his brother),
Delhi Belly (2011). TV serials he has done so far are: Thoda Hai Thode Ki Zaroorat Hai, Kashmakash, imtihan, Manzile, Shriman Shrimati, Beintehaa, Ek Raja Ek Rani, Kalidas and many more.
He had also directed a TV serial ‘Sanskar’ in 1999, but it did not fare well in the ratings, so he shelved the plan of becoming a director. He got married to Reema Kher in 1986, and they have one offspring Vrinda. He is a man of high integrity and never used his brother’s name to get roles.
It’s been more than 20 years in the show business, but he has never involved in any controversy till this date, such is his integrity. We wish all the best to this veteran actor for his upcoming projects.
