He has made a prominent place in the industry right from his start. Rajiv started his career with directing the film ‘Ek Jaan Hai Hum’ released in 1983. Then further, he directed movies like ‘Pyar ke Do Pal,' ‘Ramjaane,' ‘Chamatkar’ and a few more. Rajiv has written the screenplay of Chamatkar.

Rajiv’s first directorial TV series is ‘Zabaan Sambhal Ke’ (1993-1997).
