Rajeev Kumar is a legendary movie Director, who takes predominantly, Malayalam films. He is also a gifted musician. He plays the Mridangam and in the year 1980, founded the band Blue Birds. He was born and brought up in Kottayam, a town in Kerala. He did his Under Graduation in Trivandrum Government Arts College and completed his Post Graduation from the University College in Trivandrum. In 1982, he also studied Law and got a bank job. He began his stint in the cinema field at an early age of 19, by joining as an Assistant Director in the famous Mollywood Navodaya production house. He made his debut through the kid’s film My Dear Kuttichathan in the year 1984. Rajeev’s second flick as a Cameraman was a dream-come-true movie. He worked as a Cinematographer in the Universal Star Kamal Haasan’s movie Chanakyan, in the year 1989. He did movies by simultaneously working in Bank. But it did not last long.
