Tanay Gajjar

Tanay Gajjar is a sound recording engineer of Indian cinema who works primarily in Hindi industry. The famous songs he has worked for include deewani mastani, aayat, mirzya and many more. Tanay was born in Mumbai on 2nd September 1973.

He began his career in 1995 in BR films studio. After working for this studio for two years, he joined Sumi studio vision as its head for another two years. Following this, he became the head of AVA entertainment Pvt. Ltd. which is India's leading sound recording studio in the year 2000 and worked for 12 years. After this quitting the job in 2012 he established his studio for recording, mixing and mastering and named it Wow & flutteR.

Apart from working in studios, Tanay has also worked with various music directors of Indian industry as a sound editor, mixer, sound designer, sound and background scorer and a masterer. He has a good grasp of different classical and semi-classical, pop, fusion, national and international music. Even on reaching the peak of his career and one of the pioneers of sound engineering he still works and designs as well as manages and controls sounds and vibrations for a recording studio, mini and home theatres. The main Bhavan theatre in Mumbai is one of his works.

His debut film was shastra that released in 1996 where he worked as a background music recordist. This film was followed by a soldier in 1998 in which the music and dubbing had been edited by Tanay. He further worked as a sound editor for the first time in hum dil de chuke Sanam in 1999. 2000 came with two more releases titled monsoon wedding and gadar: Ek prem katha.

2001 again was one such year with Devdas and hum Pyar tmhi se kar baithe. He worked as a background mixing engineer in black which hit the cinemas in 2005. After this, there was quite a long break in his career until the release of life of pie in 2012.

Again taking a break of three years, he worked as a song mixer and music recording engineer in the queen of katwe and mirzya. Mirzya is his latest release of 2016. Tanay gajjar has won numerous awards for best song recording and best engineer for asambhav, Devdas, and the song raam cha he Leela. He also bagged an award for his work in bajirao mastani.
