Barbara Corcoran, a famous TV personality and an American businesswoman, was born on March 10, 1949. She was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, United States of America. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., changed his job several times during her childhood. He drank too much and mistreated her mother. Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Their financial condition was very inferior because they lived on the delivered free food from the local grocer who was their friend.
She struggled a lot during her childhood because she had dyslexia. She was considered a dumb child by the teachers and classmates. It motivated her to work much harder to succeed in life. She joined a local catholic elementary school for primary education She started high education at St. Lecilla High School in Englewood. Then, she transferred to Leonia High School, where she graduated as a D student. After graduation, she worked as a teacher there, and then moved to St. Thomas Aquinas College for B.Ed.
She completed her degree in 1971. Till the age of 23, she worked 20 jobs, including side Jobs like renting apartments in New York City. She has also worked as a waitress. She was a receptionist for the Giffuni Brother’s real estate in New York City. She formed her firm after she split from her boyfriend. In mid- 1970, she started publishing The Corcoran Report, which covers real estate data trends in New York City. In 1988, she married Bill Higgins. He is a retired Navy Captain and an FBI agent. He has participated in the Gulf War. In 1994, she gave birth to a son, Tom Higgins, by in-vitro fertilization.
Later on, she adopted a daughter, Kattie Higgins. In 2001, she sold her business for $66 million and purchased a 2700-square foot apartment in a building on Park Avenue for $3.5 million. In 2015, she bought a Penthouse unit for $10 million on 5th Avenue. After this, she bought a double- wide trailer home in California. She has appeared in all fourteen seasons of ABC’s
