An Associate Director Is Quite Similar To An Assistant Director
An associate Director is quite similar to an assistant Director, as they also manage the scheduling, the casting and the operations on the film set under the guidance of the director.
The associate directors however may not be as many in numbers as the assistant directors, who are generally 5-6 or sometimes 10 in number. An associate director can also be involved in the creative process of the film making in the director's department where he or she can put forth their ideas to make a scene more impactful. Generally, when a director is exhausted by his or her ideas and tricks, he may seek an opinion from the associate director on a particular shot or scene. The associate director is also closely involved with the actors on the set, making them understand what the director wants from them. Sometimes the associate even directs a few scenes in the film with the permission of the main director.
