Himanish Goswami is an Indian writer born on March 18, 1926, in Kalikapur in Faridpur District, British India(now Bangladesh). His father was a famous Bengali newspaper editor, photographer, and writer. He did his schooling at Rani Bhabani School at Sinthi and his graduation from Vidyasagar College, the University of Calcutta, in 1948. In 1951, he went to London to study cartoons and drawing. Goswami grew up in a literary family. Goswami worked for several organizations before joining the Anandabazar Patrika newspaper. From 1972 to 1986, he worked as a journalist. Goswami died on March 14, 2012, in a hospital in Kolkata after a long fight against prostate cancer.
