Suchandra Vaaniya is a Bengali actress, producer and director. She is also an entrepreneur. She is a graduate in Statistics Honors. She holds a bachelor and a master degree in Computer Application. But storytelling through films is her true passion. The movie Not a Dirty Film is one of her popular works. Other films in which Vaaniya has acted include Purbo Poschim Dokkhin Uttor Ashbei, Path Jodi Na Sesh Hoi, Chotushkone, Colkatay Columbus, Bonku Babu and Nilachaley Kirti. Vaaniya is founder of a production house called Just Studios. The first feature film of Just Studios was Purba Paschim. Released in 2019, the movie is a Bengali Spiritual Thriller.
In addition to producing the film, Vaaniya has also played the character of Titli in the movie. Apart from producing films, Vaaniya’s Just Studios also produces documentaries and music videos. Suchandra Vaaniya’s directoral debut film is titled The Arrival of Shurponakha. It is a short film. The film was selected for the 28th Kolkata International Film Festival. Vaaniya was also selected for the Best Female Debut Director at the Montreal Independent Film Festival in 2021. Vaaniya also owns a restaurant brand called BiriyaniKart. She has an NGO called Prayash. It was launched during the COVID pandemic. It has helped people belonging to rural areas like Purulia with medications and food.Â
