Farhana Mithu celebrates her birthday on the 5th of July. Lost in books at the age of playing with books, Farhana never thought that she would be immersed in a performing act like acting. She completed her master’s from the University of Dhaka in Public Administration and then joined an advertising firm as a scriptwriter, this is where she found her creative freedom which ultimately led her to being one of the most prominent faces in the Bengali cinema. Upon the request of Geeti Ara Chowdhury, Farhana debuted with a TV commercial in 1998. Thereafter, she also appeared in one single episode of the TV play ‘Shangshar Shakhi’; this was her first TV play, and the first to go on Air was ‘Jetey Jetey Obosheshey’. Her diction and expressions ensured her several offers for many TV plays and serials.
Mithu’s most famous works came from ‘Kachher Manush’ and ‘Labonya Probha’. She played highly contradicting roles in both serials, at one time she was a compromising woman in the former, Chanda, who would never confront the situation by putting the identity of her family and children in the society at stake; in the latter, she portrayed a non-compromising woman, Rawshan, who would call out her husband for his offensive words and Acts and when things get out of control, she finds a job and leaves her husband. Mithu is also a radio host for Uttran and has been an active part of the theatre industry, becoming a member of Nagorik Natya Shamprodaya in 2004.
