Sreeradha Banerjee is a famous singer working in the Bengali film industry. She has also crooned Hindi songs. Sreeradha was born into a musical family. Her mother is a good singer, but not a professional singer, and her father is a fan of Rabindra Sangeet. Sreeradha has two sisters: Ruprekha is her elder sister, and Rajyashree, a psychologist, is her younger sister. Sreeradha was born in Jaldhaka, North Bengal. When she was 5, her family moved to Kolkata. She went to Carmel High School and started learning classical music at the same time. In 1980, she received the Girija Shankar Smriti Gold Medal for her excellence in classical music. Shri Sukhendu Goswami and Hironmoyee Pandit are her teachers at Geetabitan, where she learned classical music. Meanwhile, Sreeradha completed her graduation at Calcutta University.
She started her career as a teacher in a school. As she had to raise her voice and teach the students, Sreeradha felt it might affect her singing, and she quit her teaching job. Sreeradha Banerjee started her singing career in 1987. After Arati Mukherjee and Haimanti Shukla, Sreeradha was considered one of the most talented singers in the Bengali film industry. She not only sings for films but also bhajans, Ghazals, and Rabindra Sangeet.
