Sharmin Sultana Sumi is a Bangladeshi singer, songwriter, composer and playback singer. She was born on the 16th of September in Khulna, Bangladesh. She moved to Dhaka and graduated from Dhaka University. She founded the band Chirkutt in 2002. She was the main vocalist, writer and composer of their songs. She also wrote lyrics and music for other artists. She was the playback singer for the film Aynabaji. Sharmin also dedicated a song to the heavy metal guitarist Zeheen Ahmed who died suddenly in 2017.
She wrote Dhire Dhire for Habib and Nancy which hit over 2 million views on YouTube. She was the first Bangladeshi to be invited to participate in the Womex 21 music summit. Sharmin also received many awards during her career like the Anannya Top Ten Awards by the Bangla Academy. She was nominated for the Best Playback Singer and Best Lyrics for the Filmfare Awards East.
