Shawkat Ali Emon (popularly named Saimon) is a Bangladeshi singer, music composer, and songwriter who was born in 1971. He gained a lot of fame because of his extraordinary skill and enthusiasm. His passion towards music and creativity helped him retain a significant position in the music and film industry. His father, Abdus Salam, was a native writer from the Manikganj district. . Emon made his debut film Rooti in the year 1996 and has also performed as a playback vocalist for quite a few movies under his other name Saimon. The song Char Chokka Maro which has almost become an anthem for the fans of the Bangladeshi cricket team Tigers, was originally composed by him. Emon has won the Bangladeshi National Film Award for Best Music Director for the film Purno Doirgho Prem Kahini in the year 2013 and additionally in 2022, he was awarded Best Music Composer for the film Payer Chhaap. He has also won the Babisas Award for Best Music Director for the movie Black Money in 2015. Emon has also served as one of the judges in the popular TV show Black Horse RTV Golden Key – Ebar Tomra Gao. He was also a part of the musical band Chime and Pentagon in the 1990s.
