Atul Prasad Sen is a Bengali composer, lyricist and singer, lawyer, philanthropist, social worker, educationist, and writer born on 20th October 1871 in Decca, Bengal Presidency, British India. His parents were Ram Prasad Sen and Hemanta Shashi, who belonged to a Vaidya family from Magor in South Bikrampur, Faridpur District, Bangladesh. He passed the Entrance examination in 1890 and went to Presidency College in Kolkata, and in the same year travelled to England to study law. He was married to his cousin sister Hem Kusum, daughter of Krishna Govinda Gupta, ICS, and Prasanna Tara Gupta. His career started when he became a barrister and joined Satyendra Prasanna Sinha (Lord Sinha) as a Bar-at-Law in 1894. He also practiced law at Old Baily, London, and was short-spanned. Literary activities done by him include Uttara, the Bengali magazine of the organization, initiated and edited by him to keep alive the Bengali culture among the Bengali Diaspora.

He also presided over its Kanpur and Gorakhpur conventions. He was also the editor of Allahabad Law Journal and Awadh Weekly Notes. When it comes to his classical songs, he used fast-paced Hindustani tunes like Kheyal, Thumri, and Dadra and was able to add an element of spontaneity. He also introduced Bengali ghazals and created around six or seven of them. He also made a collaboration with raga to Bangla songs which made a significant impact on Bengali music. He wrote around 212 poems, some being songs. He also created many songs devoted to Brahmos faith and composed many classical ragas with folk tunes. The list of songs done by him includes Uthago Bharat Lakshmi, Tumi Gao Tumi Gao Go, Se Daake Aamare, Sangsare Jodi Nahi Pai Sara, Pagla Montare Tui Bandh, Ogo Sathi Mamo Sathi, Ogo Krondoshi Pathocharini, Keno Ele Mor Ghore, Ke Tumi Bosi Nodi Kule Ekela, Ke Abar Bajay Banshi, Jodi Tor Hridjamuna.
