Abdul Gafur Hali was also known by another name, Abdul Gafur Hali Maizbhanderi, who was born on August 6, 1929, in the Potiya region of Chittagong District, Bengal Presidency, British India, and died on December 21, 2016, in Chittagong, Bangladesh. He was married to Rajia Begum. He was the son of Abdus Sobhan and Gultaj Khatun. He was a Bangladeshi folk writer, composer, and singer, and he performed in the Maizbhandari musical style.
He was the first person to write a folk play in the Chittagonian tongue. His primary language of creation is Chittagong. He completed his schooling at Rashidabad and Joara Bishwamvar. He won several national and institutional awards, like the Rahe Bhander Ennoble Award (2012), the Chittagong Association Award (2012), the Bangladesh Musical Organizations' Association Award (2013), and the Sukhendu Memorial Theater Award (2013).
