Arijit Kundu is a Bengali filmmaker who produces various Bengali films. He was born on 10th August 1985 in Kolkata, West Bengal. He has established Vagyashrii Productions, a collaborative platform for independent cinema and storytelling. Arijit completed his Master's degree in History at Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan. It was there that he became seriously interested in culture, literature, and narrative cinema. It was through exposure to film and theatre clubs at university that his inclination to become a filmmaker developed.
He studied filmmaking and started directing short films and independent projects. The urge to explore human feelings and love drove him to make films that mainstream media rarely touches upon. His short film, The Caged Bird, which addresses homosexual relations, was widely praised in reviews and won several awards at film festivals.
Arijit's films depict life as it unfolds and social themes in a very sensitive context. Besides Direction, he pens and produces films under his banner.
