Soumalya Chatterjee is a Bengali producer and director based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He has done his schooling from St. Xavier’s School, Durgapur, West Bengal. Thereafter, He started pursuing a Bachelor’s in Technology in Computer Science from the Heritage Institute of Technology. Then, he joined the Institute of Moving Images, Bangalore to study Associate’s Degree, in Film/Cinema/Video Studies. In 2016, he studied at the Whistling Woods International to learn the art of Direction. He also holds a Diploma in Direction and Screenwriting.

Soumalya started his career in 2010, as the Theatre Technician at Lok Theatre in Kolkata. Then he worked as an intern assistant director with the Overdose Joint Productions. In Bangalore, he worked as a Theatre Director for ‘Ekti Natoker Dol,’ Co-written five plays, directed two, and acted in more than fourteen plays. Soumalya then moved to Mumbai and started working as an Assistant Director with Tangelo Productions. He was engaged with the ‘The Viral Fever’ (TVF) production company in 2016 and worked as the Art Director. He finally started his production house called ‘The Addictionary’ in 2017, which was a media production house created with the sole motive of creating enthralling visuals involved in producing all kinds of works such as Digital Ads, TVC, Corporate AVs, Corporate ADs, Short films, Feature films, etc. Soumalya is the Founder of Kino-Eye Studios, which is a global IP creation hub, formed to create a cohesive ecosystem of creating trans-medium IPs that are authentic and radical in nature.

Soumalya has produced some of the award-winning films like ‘Tasher Ghawr,’ ‘Café,’ and ‘Kia, and Cosmos.’ He has also worked as associate director for ‘Paanch Phoron,’ and ‘The Cabin Guard.’ His first short film, ‘Void,’ won multiple awards in genre-based short film festivals. His other short film ‘Hasalso’ has been successful among the critics. Besides, he is skilled in Editing, Filmmaking, Online Advertisement, Stage Direction, Screenwriting, and Commercial Direction.
