JK Kapur was born on 24 April 1927, Lahore, Pakistan. He is an Indian Filmmaker, Producer, Social Activist, and Restaurateur. He was migrated to Bombay, India, from modern-day Pakistan, during the partition of India. He is the renowned founder of Copper Chimney in 1927, the award-winning Indian restaurant chain in Mumbai with Prem Chadda. Cooper Chimney is a part of K Hospitality Crop, an Indian hospitality and food service company which continues to be owned by the Kapur family. JK. Kapur was the Vice-President of the International Worl Laughter Club, President of Worli Woods, Funder- President of the Senior Citizens Helpline and the Chairman of the Indo-Japanese Committee to improve relations between India and Japan. He has produced many Bengali movies such as Sagina Mahato, followed by its Hindi remake Sagina, his work with this movie was outstanding as it was a hit during 1990’s. He always wanted to share with the town, culinary experience reminiscent of his years growing up near the near the west Frontier Province. After he landed in the new city, his love for the food took shape as the first cooper chimney in the heart of Mumbai. He took his last breath in 2004.
