Agnidev Chatterjee is an Indian Director and filmmaker. His works are mainly in the Bengali film industry. He was born in the year 1965 in the metropolitan city of India – Kolkata. From an early age, he aspired to be in films and started preparing for it. He has been associated with Bengali Television for about 20 years and has yielded about five thousand hours worth of programming and serials. He has directed almost all types of television genres that could possibly exist. He has been involved in the direction of sitcoms, news, current affair series, television drama series, television movies and much more. He has won numerous >> Read More... . He has given the Bengali film industry three back to back blockbusters, namely, 3 Kanya, Mrs, Sen and Charuulata 2011. All of these films released in one calendar year, that is, in between 2012 and 2013. He is currently shooting for his Bollywood venture. This is considered to be his most ambitious project. It is called ‘Tere Ane Se’ and is been shot around Nasik, Mumbai, Jodhpur, Delhi, Agra, Manali, Goa, London and Rohtang. The cast is primarily from the Mumbai film industry.

Agnidev Chatterjee’s directorial debut in the film industry was ‘Probhu Noshto Hoi Jai’ which translates to ‘Lord, I am Rotting Away’ in English. The flick was nominated at the International Film Festival of Kerala for the ‘Golden Crow Pheasant Award’. The speciality of the flick is that it is shot in the stark shades of black and white. The plot explores the grey areas of the conscious of a person in the man-woman sexuality that creates barriers of status, age and relationship. Agnidev’s second film was called ‘Charuulata 2011’ which is inspired by the legendary Rabindranath Tagore’s short story – Noshtonirh. However, Agnidev Chatterjee changed the confines of the classic and set it in the modern time complexities and moral chaos. The third film by Agnidev was called ‘3 Kanya’ and was a tale of crime, passion, inevitable retribution and lust.
