Novelist Adib Khan is of Bangladeshi descent. He relocated to Australia in 1973, and in 1976 he graduated with an MA from Monash University. He taught creative writing at Ballarat University before going back to Monash in 2007 to finish his Ph.D. Khan began writing in his forties and has five novels to his credit. Seasonal Adjustments, his debut book, was also nominated for the 1994 Age Book of the Year award and went on to win the Book of the Year prize at the NSW Premier's Literary Awards in 1994. It also received the 1995 Commonwealth Writers' Prize for Best Book. The 1997 NSW Premier's Literary Awards' Ethnic Affairs Commission Award shortlist included Solitude of Illusions. The Tilly Aston Braille Book of the Year Award was given to it in 1997.
