Shankar has a unique style of choreography. Her style is a blend of traditional Indian classics with modern western ballet. Her dance form is inspired by the rich local Indian Tradition of Thang-ta - a Manipuri Sword Dance.

Tanusree Shankar likes to tour the globe with her dancing crew, engaging in live performances. Her notable productions are Chitran denotes 'The Eternal' and Uttaran - 'The Upliftment of the Soul.' In 2002, Tanusree Shankar was the chief choreographer in Kolkata Karnival held by the British High Commission.
