Abul Khair was a television and film actor. He was born on 4 April 1929 and got into acting after 1950. His television works include Ei Shob Din Ratri, Kothao Keu Nei, Bohubrihi, Aaj Robibar, Ayomoy, Nimful and Shobinoy Nibedon. His contribution to the the Bengali cinema has also been tremendous and includes numerous names like Mukh O Mukhosh, Kancher Deyal, Sangam, Titash Ekti Nadir Naam, Akhoni Shomoy, Dohon, Pension, Rajlakshmi Srikanta, Jinner Badshah, Padma Nadir Majhi, Patang, Ekattorer Jishu, Abujh Sontan, Chaka, Onno Jibon, Nodir Naam Modhumoti, Dipu Number Two, Dukhai, Srabon Megher Din and Somudro Bilash Private Limited. He has won several accolades for his work, including the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor four times for Dahan, Rajlakshmi Srikanta, Anya Jibon, and Dukhai.
He also portrayed other responsibilities in executive positions. These included the Director of Films in the Ministry of Information from 1968 to 1976, orchestrating and directing the 7 March speech of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and the Managing Director of the Film Development Corporation from 1973 to 1975. Apart from these, he also made a documentary named “This is Bangladesh '', which was celebrated in the Montreal World Film Festival. Additionally, he was the International Film Director for the United Nations in the United States (1976-1980). When he was in this position, he made documentaries like “The Big Village ‘’ which is a part of the UN film archive as well as the Bangladesh Film Archive.
