Kennedy Club is a sports thriller scripted and directed by “Suseenthiran.” The film has “P Bharathiraja,” “M Sasikumar,” Murli Sharma and “Soori” in the lead roles. “D Imman” composes the music. Gurudev cranked the camera. Anthony edited the film. Thai Saravanan produced the film under Nallusamy Pictures.

Savarimuthu, an ex-army man coaches a woman Kabaddi team. When he falls sick, his former student, Muruganandham, who works in Railways, has been called upon to guide the girls. When the team marches towards the National level, they had to face a lot of challenges. How did they manage the troubles and hurdles, form the rest of the story!

Star Performance

Sasikumar is natural, as ever without cinematic expressions. Bharathiraja did his best. Murli Sharma’s role is weak and hence he didn’t impress much. The girls who performed as the Kabaddi players had done a perfect job. They are very natural in the performance and lived as the players.

The script is good while in the paper. Suseenthiran, who is very good at narrating and developing the characters had missed out something in the film. Although the artists’ selection is good, some characters are not designed properly. But, the Kabaddi matches are shot perfectly with a lot of thrilling moments. Imman’s BGM is fantastic. Gurudev’s cinematography is good. Some of the suspense scenes seem to have been purposely inserted. Most of the scenes are predictable.

What’s There?

  • Performance of the stars are good
  • BGM hypes up the expectation of the scene

What’s Not There?

  • Weak characterization
  • Forcedly added scenes
  • Predictable sequences

Although the film has some good scenes with emotions, while leaving the theater, we could feel that this is not Suseenthiran’s capacity. He could have done something better than this. Yet, the film is watchable, once.
