Not every movie is a masterpiece. Not every movie deserves the acclaim it received. The Indian film industry has many great movies that went unrecognized but has also got an equal number of movies that received more than they deserved. It could be recognition, critique acclaim, or box office collections; sometimes, some films have got more than they deserve. Every industry has such overrated movies. Here is the list of 10 Overrated films of Tollywood.

1. RRR

Who would expect that the highest-grossed movie in India is an overrated film? Many people think that RRR is nothing but an overrated movie and not up to the mark of SS Rajamouli. RRR is the next movie of Rajamouli after the grand success of the Baahubali series. Thus, the hype for the film is real. The heavy budget, multi-starrer with two prominent actors, and Baahubali’s success, Pan-India, all created much hype on RRR. The movie is a classic example that Movies run not by the story but by expectations. The heavy expectations and overhype resulted in its massive collections. RRR is a good movie but not as great as it is acclaimed and not the best of SS Rajamouli.

2. Ala Vaikuntapuramlo

Directed by Trivikram and starring Allu Arjun, Ala Vaikuntapuramlo is a family drama released in 2020. The film grossed around 270 crores, but much of its success is not dependent upon the story. The movie has nothing special, with a routine storyline and an average screenplay. But the film has some terrific songs with Thaman coming back to form, and much of the success depended on the vocals. The songs became a huge hit and played everywhere; hence, the movie's hype skyrocketed, resulting in the collections.

3. Sarileru Neekevvaru

The Mahesh Babu starrer action comedy, released in 2020, is also one of the overrated films in Tollywood. The movie made more than 260 crores, but it wasn't worth it. It has no story, a lousy screenplay, and a highly annoying and forced comedy with some emotions. All these made Sarileru Neekevvaru not a worthy film. Its high collections include Sankranti's release, Mahesh Babu's mass role, family drama, and comedy. All these led to high box office collections but could not make a good storyline.

4. Khaidi No. 150

The Action drama, released in 2017, is an official remake of the Tamil movie “Kaththi” starring Vijay. Kaththi is a brilliant movie penned and directed by AR Murugadoss. Being a significant hit in Tamil and the comeback movie of Megastar Chiranjeevi and his 150th movie, the hype for the film was skyrocketing. The movie was a blockbuster in terms of collections. Still, a few flaws in the film resulted in it being overrated. To make it look good for the fans of the megastar, the director has compromised on its emotions and story, with most of the part focussing on Elevations, fights, and terrible comedy. This movie did an injustice to the original film and haven't liked by the people who loved the original version.

5. Fidaa

The 2017 Shekar Kammula’s Romcom is also one of the most overrated movies in Tollywood. The movie has ratings of 3.25/5 and above on every site, getting heavy praise from critics. But if one carefully sees, the film has no good plot, and a terrible 2nd half makes you tired of the movie. Due to praise from critics, the movie has done so wildly at the box office as well. The typical one-time watch movie has become a significant hit in Tollywood due to good reviews from critics.

6. Geetha Govindam

A movie with a five-crore budget has done miraculous wonders by making around 130 crores at the box office. We are talking about the 2018 Romcom Geetha Govindam starring Vijay Devarakonda as the lead. The movie got released after the massive success of Arjun Reddy. The audience well received the songs and movie.

‘A Aa’ is a 2016 Romcom movie directed by Trivikram Srinivas. The movie is about a girl named Anasuya Ramalingam and a boy named Aanand Vihari; it revolves around them and their family drama. With little plot, the film collected an amount of 75 crores in its run time. The family audience received the movie well, but it is a familiar story. But due to the director, production values, and family audience, the one-time film received more than it deserved.

8. F2

F2 is a comedy-drama directed by Anil Ravipudi and released in 2018 during the Sankranti season. The movie has no story but goes along with some nonsensical scenes and forceful comedy. But unfortunately, The family audience has opened their wide arms and received the film and made it a blockbuster with around 130 crore collections.

9. Karthikeya 2

The 2022 adventurous action thriller was a sequel to the blockbuster Karthikeya. Though both movies have no connection, the audience received it well due to the predecessor's success. It's an excellent movie for fans of the treasure hunt as it revolves around finding a mythological treasure to clear his name. It's a decent movie, but it couldn't beat its predecessor. Unfortunately, the collections suggest otherwise, with outstanding collections for part 2.

10. Pushpa: The Rise

Pushpa is another big name on the list. Everyone and everywhere refers to Pushpa in some way or another, from its famous dialogue “Thaggede le” to its songs. Pushpa has become a trend all over India. But is the movie good? The film is a good one-time watch but not worth the hype or collections it got. The story is nothing but copying KGF’s plot.
