Oliyum Oliyum is a Tamil movie song compilation program that airs on DD Podhigai from Monday to Friday from 7:00 pm to 7:30 pm (IST). The first version of the show was aired back in the 1980s and was a major hit. It was loved by the viewers but later was taken off the air. Now, it is back with another version and with more than ever energy. Oliyum Oliyum translates to ‘Light and Sound’ in English.
The show is hosted by Mathangi Jagdish, who is a popular South Indian singer. She has composed over 200 songs and received many awards to her credit. She performs live shows and has appeared as a judge on many singing competitions. In this show, she plays some of her favorites songs from the latest Tamil movies. Before playing each song, she talks about the song in detail. She explains about the making of the song, who composed it, about the lyrics and the meaning of each song. With her fun-loving personality, she appealingly hosts the show. The main reason behind making this show is to appreciate the beauty and charm of Tamil songs and to provide them wider recognition.
