The show tells the story of Deshmukh's family and their effort to keep up with changing times in society. The whole family lives together in the Ashray house. The head of the family is a freedom fighter, while his wife is a kind woman. Their eldest son has three children with his wife, while their younger son has two daughters.

The family is tightly knit, and they are bound tightly together by good values. The family has minor differences, but they solve them with each other's immense support. Their main topic for argument would be whether to leave their ancestral house and buy a home in a tower with separate rooms for everyone. Each member has different opinions and thought processes, which forms the subplot in each episode.
