Weekend Special is a Malayalam TV show that airs on Janam TV. The show features investigations and documentaries on historic events and well-known personalities of Kerala. Each episode features one topic, where the host goes to prominent places where the event has occurred, which in the case of famous personalities is their birthplace or the place of their achievement. They start the show by giving a brief history of the topic and listing out facts. The host interacts with the people around that area to find out new information about the subject.
They also interview family members related to the subject. Some of the events featured on the show are; Nilaykkal protest, palm-leaf manuscripts and Malabar rebellion, or the Mapilla riots. The most astonishing feature of this show is that it shows us that there is much more to what we have learned from the books.
