Unplugged is an Indian music television program. Music programs are a type of television show in which various musicians and instrumentalists jam together and present the viewers with a live performance of a song of their choice. This kind of show has become a very popular type of program owing to the crazy music fans who follow musicians religiously. Unplugged brought the same idea to India. The show featured several Indian musicians, vocalists, instrumentalists who work on a song together and create their version of it. The song that they select to play often is a popular song by another artist. They recreate it according to their taste.
The show is based in Mumbai where most of the musicians live. The show began airing on the channel in October 2011 and was a huge success on the channel. This made the producers of the show renew the show for a total of eight seasons.
