His family thought that he would go down the traditional path to become an accountant or a lawyer. But he decided that music was the real deal. He decided to further diversify his knowledge in music. He visited A R Rahman’s KM Music Conservatory in Chennai in 2010. There he gave an audition and managed to get selected for the school. He decided to do the vocal and piano preparatory program at the school. He did music theory and also participated in musical theatres. Along with other students, he recorded music for course projects and some of A R Rahman’s films.

He made his Sufi band named NOOR. Shashwat also joined A R Rahman’s Cappella collective called NAFS. He was one of the singers of the song Tauba Tauba by NAFS. He met A R Rahman when he wrote a Hindi project, and the artist was incredibly impressed.  He made his Bollywood debut with the song Wat Wat Wat in the film Tamasha. Rahman composed this song. Shashwat also got a chance to sing with him for Sarsariya in Hrithik Roshan’s film Mohenjodaro. His long list of songs includes Jaane Kaise, Oh Thirayukayono, Chalthi Ka Naam Gaadi, Mila Mila, Mata Saraswati, and Alizeh- Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Shashwat has done many live performances as well.

One of Shashwat’s first performances was at Bhali Manchi Roju Audio Launch. He performed the Mila Mila song. He has also released singles like Ruby Ruby in 2018, Mawaali Dil in 2020, and electro-pop single Yun Kyun in 2020. He has a website also. WIX has designed it. His most famous project was A R Rahman’s 99 songs where Shashwat was in the role of Jay.
