Born in 1941, the veteran star had more than 80 projects to his name. On 19th June 2017, he lost his life in Mumbai due to liver cirrhosis. He has a son and two daughters; his wife died even before him. Prakash Mehra's movie Zanjeer, starring Amitabh Bachchan, brought Amrit into the spotlight for the very first time. Gajendra Chauhan was born on the 10 Oct 1956 in Delhi. He is 5.7 Inches tall. His full name is Gajendra Singh Chauhan. He lived in Khanpur in West Delhi. He did his schooling and college from Delhi. During that period, he put on weight as he signed films in South and those characters demanded that. When he came back for Mahabharata, he was kicked out as he no longer looked the part. He became depressed as he had lost a good opportunity but luck favored him and he was called to play the role of Yudhisthira. He recalls that within six months of the serial going on-air, all became stars as Mahabharata enjoyed 99.6% viewership which has been the highest ever.

When they got this news, they knew that their lives had changed. They were being recognised wherever they went. Although this established Dheeraj Kumar as a television personality to be reckoned with, this was preceded by a reasonably successful stint in the Punjabi film industry, having acted in 21 films between 1970 and 1984. He had a reasonably successful run in Hindi movies as well, with quite a few well known films against his name, in some of which he even did the leading role. 

He would be remembered as the actor who rendered the well known semi classical song Ka Karoon Sajni sung in the melodious voice of Yesudas for the film “Swami”. He also enacted the title role in the film “Shirdi Ke Sai Baba”, perhaps betraying his penchant for mythological and historical themes, as his later productions for television would testify. 

But it was Television that was his first focus, and he had soon acquired the name of ‘Mythology King’ with the string of mythological serials that he had produced for Doordarshan and later on for satellite channels as well. While he briefly diversified into crime based serials like “Adalat” (1985) and “Apradh” (2000), he could not resist the temptation of falling back on the magical formula of mythology, bringing back the lore of king Vikram on TV screens with his 2014 serial “Singhasan Battissee” on Sony Pal. With all the success that Dheeraj Kumar has achieved with his Creative Eye production house Dheeraj Kumar would surely like to be remembered more as an all round TV personality rather than just a mere actor in films and serials.

Vikas Kapoor is an Indian writer. He has showcased his talent by writing a book named Shirdi Sai Baba- Cosmic which was published in the year 2011. This book revolves around all key sequences and incidents from baba’s life. It’s about the spiritual journey of his life. This show was based on the dignity of Lord Shiva and other Gods like Parvati, Indra, Brahma, Vishnu and Narada. This serial was directed by Dheeraj Kumar. It was telecasted till 208 episodes.

He has also worked in Kahani Ghar Ghar ki on Star plus as Harpreet Gill. It was produced by Balaji Telefilms. The premiere of this show was on 16 October. 2000. It ran till 1661 episode. This serial was 2nd most watched serial in Indian Television.
