Lord Shiva, also called as Mahadev, is one of the ‘Trimurti’ along with Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma. Shiva lives in Kailash, which is in the Himalayas. Shiva meets his first wife, Sati, the daughter of King Daksa, who was a non- believer of Shiva. Sati married Shiva against her father’s wishes and left to Kailash with him. When Daksa didn’t invite her and Shiva to great sacrifice, she went to give them a piece of her mind. When Daksa insulted Shiva in front of all the public, Sati burst into flames in mortification. Shiva opened his third eye that day in anguish. As he lifted Sati’s body and flew above the world, Sati’s body burst into a million pieces and found home on Earth, some of which becomes the 18 shaktipeetas.

Sati was later reborn as Parvati and got married to Shiva, this time with the blessings of her parents. They had three children, Ganesha, Kartikeya, and Ashokasundari. Shiva is called “Bolenath” as he is innocent and grant wishes to all those who pray to him, with no regard to what the consequences of his wishes would be. Lord Vishnu and Parvati defeat all the Asuras, to whom Lord Shiva has granted wishes. Devotional serials and movies have become popular among the viewers, which is why this serial reached a lot of audiences, irrespective of the age group.
