Ministry of Information and Broadcasting have set up a different organisation to honour the feature and non- feature films of India. Directorate of Film Festivals is the organisation’s name, and they organised 58th National Film Awards The National Film Awards gets presented every year >> Read More... . All the movies released between 1st January 2010 to 31st December 2010 and certified by Central Board Of Film Certification are eligible for these awards. Also, all the books published during this period are also eligible for these awards. Different jury committees decide the winners for writing in feature and non-feature films.

The awards night was held on 19th May 2011, and the ceremony was at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. Awards were given away by none other than President of India, Mrs Pratibha Patil. If we now come to the names of winners under various categories, then these are as follows. Under these awards, Best movie on social issues went to Marathi flick ‘Champions.’ Hindi movie ‘I am Kalam’ succeeded in bagging the best Child artist award.

Best feature film in almost all the languages were awarded whose names are as follows: ‘Aami aadu’ in Bengali, and ‘ Do Dooni Char’ in Hindi. Best feature film in English was ‘Memories in March.’ Similarly non- feature films which were outstanding on the silver screen in the year 2010- 2011 were also appreciated and honoured at National award function.

At the end of the ceremony Special mention of two books was made, Cinema Bhojpuri and Thiraicheelai. Few awards were left unawarded as the jury didn’t find any film deserving that award. No Punjabi, Manipuri, Telugu, Oriya, film qualified for these awards. Also, no Animation flick was awarded due to lack of nominations.
