Another assembly of five renowned persons was also formed for the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Each of the chairperson for the various sections declared the award on 15th of September 2010 for their allotted sections. The presentation ceremony took place at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.ThePresident of India, Pratibha Patil gave away the awards on 22 October 2010. Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime achievement award for D. Ramanaidu was declared prior to the declaration of the national awards on 9th September this year. The 57th National Film Awards for a feature film,Best Audiography, Best Screenplay, and Best Music Direction have been divided into several awards to honour different fields of the techniques. Best Screenplay would be given for both Adapted Screenplay along with Dialogues and Original Screenplay. The Best Audiography category has been subdivided into Sound Designer, Re-Recordist and Location sound recordist of the ultimate mixed number. Best Music Direction will be awarded for Background score and Songs, separately.

All the award winners will be presented with Rajat Kamal (Silver Lotus). Awards were categorisedi nto feature, non-feature films and works on Indian cinema. Dadasaheb Phalke is given to the most prominent figure from the industry for the enormous contributions. A committee office influential personalities from thefilm industry took over the responsibility to judge the lifetime achievement award, Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Movies made in any vernacular language shot on 35mm, 16 mm or in digital format or wider gauge but launched on a video/digital or film format but approved by the Film Certification Board as a featurette or feature film are applicable for Feature Film category. 20 films received awards in this category. Feature films were felicitated at national and regional level.

Malayalam film Kutty Srank snatched the title in national category. It also won the maximum number of awards. Films produced in any vernacular language shot on 35 mm, 16mm or in a digital format or wider gauge and released on either video/digital or film format but approved by the Film Certification Board as a newsreel / fiction/ documentary are eligible for non-feature film category. 11 films were felicitated in the non-feature film category at the awards ceremony. Gaarud and In Camera, both grabbed the maximum number of awards, two. A committee under the guidance of Mike Pandey was given the responsibility to judge the non-feature films awards. A committee under Samik Bandyopadhyay's leadership was in charge of judging the writing on Indian cinema.
