It is an elimination-style reality show, and it featured on the ABC network. The show witnessed male and female contestants of previous seasons of the bachelor and bachelorette come together in Tulum, Mexico in hopes of finding love in paradise. A total of 25 contestants arrive on the show. Chris Harison reprised his original role as host for this series also. The contestants went on dates with each at the island in hopes of finding someone they love. Contestants were eliminated based on the Rose Ceremony that happened every week.

Alternatively, every week, male and female contestants give out roses to those they are interested in and want to keep in the show in hopes of winning the show and ending up together. The show has seen many scandals including that of a crew member and a previously ousted contestant having an affair. Many wildcard entrants also appeared throughout the season. Contestants also met with injuries during the show. The show ended with a final rose ceremony were the last two couples, Lucy and Marcus along with Michelle and Cody were asked to give a final thought about their relationships and whether they wanted to continue being together after the show.

Marcus proposed to Lucy to which she said yes, and Michelle and Cody exchanged roses and walked out as a couple. Both these couples ended up as winners of the first season of Bachelor in Paradise. At present, they are no longer together. The show ended filming on September 8th, 2014.
