The show is all about a woman who fights for her right, no matter how long it goes, she believes in her individuality and morals. The story is a plot between two families Saxena and Thakur family. Pavithra is from Saxena family and Krishna is from Thakur’s. Thakur’s family lives in Allahabad with good power in the city. They used to believe in superstitions. Whereas Saxena’s family is entirely different from them. Though they are traditional they strive to educate their children Pavithra and Arushi. As the story progresses, Krishna fell in love with Pavithra and eventually made Pavithra to marry him.

Within the same family Adrash, brother of Pavithra marries Krishna’s sister in order to protect Pavithra. Though initially, Pavithra doesn’t like Krishna much, but later fell in love with him on recognizing his love and care towards her. The story moves on with a lovely drama and got a large number of viewers. The show has won STAR Parivaar Awards in different categories in the year 2010, 2011 and 2012. It also won Indian Television Academy Awards, Kalakar awards, The Global Indian Film and Television Honors in 2011 and Indian Telly Awards in 2012 in different categories.

Pavithra is the story of a brave lady who will go to any length to fight for her right. This story revolves around two families named Thakur and Saxena. Pavithra belongs to Saxena family. Krishna belongs to Thakur family, who are known for their power and who believe in superstitions. Whereas the Saxena family is different. Though they are traditional, they believe in girl education without any hesitation. Pavithra and Krishna eventually fell in love. Krishna being a secret admirer of Pavithra , forcefully made Pavithra to marry him. Pavithra was not happy with this marriage until she realises the Krishna’s love for her. After which she falls in love with Krishna and both of them came closer.

The rest of the story revolves around the family drama that runs between these two families. Initially, its Hindi version Pratgina received good reviews, but when Ekta kapoor’s Bade Ache Lagte Hain was launched on Sony TV in the same time slot, it fell drastically and could not survive against it in terms of TRP’s; hence the show was abruptly ended on 27th October’ 2012. This show received the Best Serial Award by the Indian Television Academy Awards 2010.
