Shree Ganesh was a mythological TV series based on many stories about Lord Ganesh. Lord Ganesh is the most popular god in India, and is believed to be the most auspicious god of all, which has roots in the Indian culture and tradition and in many Vedas and old folk tales. At the very beginning Ganesh is presented as the creator of the Universe and Devi Shakti desires to have him as her son. She takes human form as Seti, the daughter of Daksha Prajapati, but because of conflicts with her father she immolates herself running into the Sacrificial fire. Later she incarnates as Parvati, the daughter of Mountain King Himalaya and queen Main and continues to pray for Ganesh to incarnate as her son.
Miraculously, Ganesh becomes her child created out of her own glow. Ganesh confronts Lord Shiva in many occasions, and after Lord Shiva orders Ganesh to be decapitated, Parvati becomes very sad and angry, but as all gods pray for her and calm her, Ganesh finally becomes Gajanan - the elephant god. The Shree Ganesh series is full of scenes in which Lord Ganesh performs miracles, fights demons, solves problems of the entire universe and creates prosperity and peace. The series started in November 2000 and was broadcast on SONY TV every Sunday morning. It had 105 episodes, each 30-50 minutes long. The engaging and spiritual plot of Shree Ganesh serial has the main reason it became so popular with the audience.
