Gayatri Jayaraman is a South Indian artist. She was born on 27th September 1984 in Bombay to Jayaraman and Chitra. She had her schooling at Adarsh Vidyalaya where she was a prodigy. Her college education was at Church Park in Mumbai. She has acted in all South Indian languages namely Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada and Tamil.
Gayatri was an accomplished dancer and drama artist even in her college days. Later, she turned her focus to modeling. Her noted performance was for “Nailli Silks”. It was followed by “Kumaran Silks” and “Pothys” and “Chennai Silks”. She was bestowed with Miss Tamil Nadu title in October 1997 and Miss South Indian award in 1998. She was a successful anchor too. Her noted performance was in popular Tamil programs like “Illimai Pudhumai” on Sun TV and “Telephone Manipol” on Vijay TV.
Her debut on mini screen happened through Director K Balachander’s serial “Azhukku Veshti” in which she played the leading protagonist character. She then acted in a Kannada film “Neela”. The film depicted the story of a tribal singer who was detected with cancer. This was a block buster and it was selected as an Indian nomination to International film festival at Goa. She was bestowed Cinema Express Award for her performance.
She made her Tamil debut in Santhos Sivan’s “Ashoka”. In it she portrayed as a dancer on a dance scene during “Raat Ka Nasha” song with the famous Hindi actress Kareena Kapoor. She also acted in another Tamil movie “
”. The famous actor Prabhu was the hero in it. But the movie was commercially a failure although her exquisite performance in the song “Manjakattu Mynaa” was much adored.
She made her Telugu film debut in “Aaduthu Paaduthu” in which she cast a supporting role alongside hero Srikanth. She retired from Cine field after her marriage. Now, she is working as a professional SCUBA diving practitioner in Andaman. She is also a huge supporter of Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Cricket Premier league.
