Fate makes them converse, and they slowly develop a bond of trust, understanding, and friendship. It later turns to love. At the time, Komolika Chaubey, who is arrogant, evil enters into the story. She shows her interest in Anurag, even knowing the happenings. Anurag and Prerna reveal their love for each other, consummate their relationship, and plan to marry. On knowing their plan, Komolika creates misunderstandings between them. To save Prerna’s house, she asks Anurag to marry her in. Prerna shocks when she hears the news without knowing Komolika’s confronts behind it.

She also gets pregnant. Prerna enters his house and exposes Komolika, which leads her to move to jail. But she returns to plans to revenge Prerna instead falls down the terrace and goes missing. After Prerna and Anurag’s engagement, Rishabh Bajaj, a selfish and arrogant business person enters her life. He asks Prerna to marry him in exchange for Anurag's freedom as he falsely frames him and gets him jailed. Even after knowing their love, he tries to kill him. Kukki, Baja’s daughter, gets hurt while trying to stop Bajaj. Due to this, Bajaj moves out, and Prerna unites with Anurag. When she reveals her pregnancy to Anurag, Komolika comes back and causes Anurag's accident. The story takes a month later. When Anurag loses his memory, Komolika uses the opportunity to make Anurag believe that they got married. In the meantime, she plans to kill Prerna and her child multiple times when she tries to expose the truth to Anurag.

Prerna gives birth to a girl child, names her Sneha, and Anurag regains his memory. Things turn worse, and Anurag betrays Prerna due to Bajaj and Komolika, which leads to Sneha’s death. But Sneha is survived, and nobody knows it. Broken Prerna moves to London. The story takes an eight-year lap. She then becomes a successful businesswoman. She maintains a formal relation with Bajaj and waits suffocated because of Anurag’s betrayal. Prerna visits Kolkata to seek revenge on Anurag, who lives with guilt hating Komolika. They both meet Samidha, an orphan, and feel a strong connection to her without knowing that she is Sneha. Later they find out that Samidha is Sneha. Anurag reveals the truth to her and explains that he continuously contact her, but Bajaj cheated on him. The two reunite, remembering the time they lost, the love they had for each other and got married. Bajaj stabs Komolika when she plans to kill Prerna and kills her. Before dying, Bajaj apologizes to Prerna and Anurag for being rubbish and behaving inhumanly. At the end of the series, Anurag and Prerna live happily with Sneha.
