The 39th Filmfare Awards ceremony was held in 1994. It was actor

Anupam Kher received the best comedian role for ‘Darr’. Actor Sunny Deol rightly deserved the best supporting actor award for the role of a drunkard lawyer in film ‘Damini’. Actress Amrita Singh had won the 'best-supporting-actress' award for the film ‘
Aaina’. Mahesh Bhatt’s another film ‘Sir’ won for
Paresh Rawal the best villain award.
Jay Dixit also won the best dialogue writer award for 'Sir'. Sutanu Gupta won the best story writer award for the film 'Damini'. Film ‘Baazigar’ fetched best music director award for
Anu Malik. Even Kumar Sanu won best male singer award for song ‘Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen’. Singer Alka Yagnik and
Ila Arun together had won the best female singer award for song ’Choli Ke Peche’ from film ‘
Khalnayak’. This song also fetched
Saroj Khan the best choreographer award. Actor Saif Ali Khan and actress
Mamta Kulkarni won the ‘best debut’ and ‘Lux New Face of the Year’ award. Priyadarshan’s film ‘Gardish’ won the best art director award for
Sabu Cyril and best action director award for Thyagarajan. N. Gopalakrishnan won the best editor award for film ‘Gardish’.
Manmohan Singh had won the best cinematographer award for film 'Darr'.
Rakesh Ranjan won Filmfare award for best sound design (lighting) for film ‘Damini’. Kundan Shah's film '
Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa' won him critics award for best movie and Shah Rukh Khan won the Critics best actor award for the same film. It was a time when
Madhuri Dixit was replacing Sridevi and Shah Rukh Khan invaded Bollywood as a young actor.
