Born with an inborn talent, Saroj Khan is one of the most well-known and eminent choreography in the Indian film Industry. She has produced many pieces of good work for around 2000 films. Talking about her earlier days, she along with her family migrated to India right after the partition. Her family was one among the orthodox one, but she turned out to be a freak. She started her career at a very tender age of 3 with the film Nazrana and also a background dancer. B. Sohanlal was her mentor and trained her very well.

Later she shifted to choreography, first as an assistant choreographer and later getting her break as an independent choreographer, with GeetaMeraNaam (1974). Her ladder of success was connected to Madhuri Dixit. With her, Khan choreographed TammaTamma, Ek do teen and Dhakdhakkarnelaga to name a few. After many years, in 2014, she worked with Madhuri in Gulab Gang.

Talking about her television career, she was in the jury of judges for the show NachBaliye on star one. The subsequent season also had her excellence. She also judged UstaadokaUstaad on Sony Entertainment Television.

She has been one of the judges for every prominent TV dance show. In 2012, The Saroj Khan Story, a documentary produced by PSBT and Films Division of India and directed by NidhiTuli was released. She won the Filmfare Award for a lot of good performances like in Guru, Devdas, Khalnayak, Chaalbaaz, and more. In the year 2002, she won the American Choreography Award for outstanding achievement for the film Lagaan. She has made a lot of contributions to Bollywood with several beautiful choreographies.

Rajit Dev

Rajit Dev is a choreographer as well as a dancer and has appeared in the Indian dance show “Just Dance”. He has worked on choreographing projects such as Dhoom 3 (2014), Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012), and Ek Tha Tiger (also 2012). He can choreograph various dance styles from different cultures including Salsa, Bollywood, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Contemporary, etc. Currently, he is working on choreographing Puja Banerjee in the Indian dance show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, Season 7. He was featured in the Times of India article about his Independence day dance which brought tears to the strongest people and melted hearts across India. It is said that he has captured the true essence of India’s independence through his amazing percipience of this art form. This choreographer, aged 30 (born 5th November 1985) had his first dance performance at the age of three and thrived to continue his aspirations. It is truly inspiring to see how he has become such a self-proclaimed choreographer for numerous occasions without receiving any professional training. He says that he has learned and lived dance through the eyes of others. Rajit has also attended two workshops on Jazz and Contemporary dance forms; one belonging to Terence’s workshop and the other belonging to Michelle Johnston. It has also been revealed that Rajit Dev and Ranvir Singh are good friends from the days of Band Baaja Baaraat. Rajit Dev has been a choreographer for the past ten years and has also taken part in many dance performances to go on and win numerous awards. He says that he has taken up performing in Just Dance because the panel of judges are very inspiring to him, and he believes that these judges are the best Indian dance judges compared to anyone else. He aspires to continue being a choreographer and express himself through dance.

Shiamak Davar

Shiamak Davar, the well-known Choreographer of Indian origin, is the one who first introduced the western dance form in India. The dancer is born to Nani Davar and Puran Davar. Born and brought up in Mumbai, with siblings Shireen Davar and Darab Davar, the dance lover had early dreams of having dance as a career. He has known as the ‘guru of contemporary dance’ in India. He recently choreographed the dance numbers in Mission Impossible 4. The contemporary dance guru has choreographed many award functions such as the Filmfare Awards and the IIFA Awards. He has worked and made actors like Saif Ali Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Varun Dhawan and Sushant Singh Rajput dance to every beat possible. The dancer and choreographer were born in the year 1961 and had a passion for dance from the very childhood. Despite his age, his passion does not die, nor his love for this work. For the flick Dil toh Pagal Hai, he won the National Award best choreographer award in the year 1997. Some of the movies in which he worked and his hard work showed off are Taal, Kisna, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Taare Zameen Par, Bunty Aur Babli, Dhoom 2. In fact, he won the most stylish dance award for Dhoom 2 title track. One among his noteworthy achievements is that he choreographed the whole of Common Wealth Games when hosted by India. Shiamak is a philanthropist, and so, he runs the Victory Art Foundation, where, he helps underprivileged children experience the pleasures of life. According to him, dance is a therapy. He has achieved a lot of success and appreciation for his works, for his career and the underprivileged. His love for his work, his passion for dance and humble nature has helped him reach the pinnacle of success.
