How I Met Your Mother is an American comedy serial which airs on CBS. The first episode of the sixth season aired on 20 September 2010, and the season concluded on 16 May 2011. It has a runtime of twenty-two minutes, similar to that of most other situational comedies. It contained twenty-two episodes. The season was met with positive response, but it failed to gather hype as that of-of the previous seasons. It did get nominated for the Emmy Awards, but failed to win none. It can be said that, this is the second worst season of the show, the first being the last season.

The season saw the main cast reprising their usual roles. There were new guest stars, with the old ones also making a comeback. Marshall is very close to his father and he wants him to start a family. He doesn't want to break his heart, and this is leading him to fight with Lily. Ted and Barney spot a hot girl at the bar. Both want to approach her, and they start arguing over who should be the one. Barney’s mother is moving out, and the friends are here to help her to shift. Ted is angry at Robin because she decided to send him to a blind date with an unimpressive woman. Ted impresses Zoey by throwing away his plan of demolishing a building.
