Plot
A common man enters a twisted political arena dominated by two parties and struggles to navigate a society colored by power politics, casteism and oppression.

Analysis
Peddha Kapu is a period film that tackles issues like violence, politics and oppression by lending viewers a voyeuristic view into the events that ensue in the course of the film. The movie is fairly well-written, with interesting twists and a dramatic screenplay. There’s a lot of gore and violence that is definitely meant for mature audiences, and so are some of the plot points, like caste politics, female oppression, sexual violence and the like. The movie is very slow-paced, but that only adds to the suspense. There isn’t a lot of character development, and the representation of women in the film is not empowering at all. The technical aspects of the film fare much better, with excellent cinematography and a soulful background score. Peddha Kapu tells the tale of a passionate underdog with big dreams, and his journey of navigating a power-hungry, corrupt and discriminatory society.
