Oh Butterfly is scripted and directed by Vijay Ranganathan. Nisha Patial, Vijay Ranganathan, Anand S Shah, and Vennky produced the film. Vaisakh Somanath composed the music. Vedaraman Sankaran cranked the camera, and Bhuvanesh Manivannan edited the film. The film featured Nivedhithaa Sathish, Ciby Bhuvana Chandran, Attul, Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli, Jananni, Geetha Kailasam, and “Nassar.”
Plot
Gouri was in love with Surya, but their love failed, making Gouri marry Arjun. Arjun lost his job soon after his marriage. Gouri wishes to reveal her past love to Arjun. But Arjun’s mental stability stops her from revealing it. Gouri and Arjun visit the Kurinji hills, where they stay at a guest house to relax. To Gouri’s shock, Arjun takes Surya with him to their guest house. Gouri feels shattered by Arjun’s arrival. Was she able to reveal her relationship with Surya to Arjun? The rest of the story focuses on this.
Star Performance
Nivedithaa fits well in the role and delivers an impressive performance. Attul got a sensitive role with various dimensions. He should’ve delivered a subtle performance. Ciby fits well in the role, but could’ve handled the role better. Nassar, Lakshmipriyaa, and Geetha Kailasam are just present in the film.
Analysis
The story is simple, and the screenplay is pretty decent. If this had been made as a short film, it would’ve made wonders. Nivedithaa’s scenes are dealt with well. However, the rest of the characters are not shaped well. Nassar, Geetha Kailasam, and Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli are well-talented stars whose potential is wasted with the underdeveloped characters. Nassar’s character is unique. If it had been developed well, it would’ve given an extra energy to the screenplay. The psychological struggles are dealt with sensibly. The visuals are fantastic. The VFX involving butterflies are so natural and impressive. The songs are quite decent, and the BGM is good, too.
