The movie Eeram is a production by mega director Shankar.  Shankar is known for picking competent actors and directors in the movies that he produces. The’ Mirugam’ Aadhi is seen in an entirely different getup as a clean-shaven police officer in the movie. The movie is a direction by Arivazhagan, Shankar’s assistant. Also, semblance to the story by late Sujatha would draw plenty of audiences to the theater. Let us see how the movie has fared in meeting the expectations among the fans.

Plot

The movie’s plot revolves around the heroine Sindhu Menon       Sindhu Menon is among the few actors and >> Read More... ’s so-called suicide when her husband Nandha is out on a trip. The movie has a gripping scene which shows overflowing water from a house. The police are alerted. It is raining heavily, and police officer Aadhi comes into the scene. Police officer Aadhi suspects foul play and decides to take the matter in his hand.   There is a twist in the movie showing that Aadhi is not a stranger to Sindhu Menon. He had loved her before her marriage with Nandha.  A flashback shows how Aadhi failed in his love and took up efforts to become a cop.  Again, we are brought to the present, and Aadhi is shell-shocked when he finds similar murders happening in the apartments in which Sindhu Menon resided. Who is behind all these, and what is the reason for the murders? Any more answer would reveal the suspense, and the audiences’ mood to watch the movie.

Star Performances

Aadhi looks majestic in his Khaki attire.  But, otherwise his face looks taut, and we as audiences desire that he brings forth more emotion on the face.  The same applies to Nandha, but Nandha deserves applause for taking up a challenging role. Sindhu Menon has emoted well on the screen.

Analysis

There is plenty of logic in the movie, and nowhere the movie derails from logical sequences in spite of taking up a supernatural theme. The movie does not allow the audience for even a loo break.  It has turned out to be such a seat-edge thriller.  The movie is very engrossing, and there are no redundant actions sequences or songs to spoil the mood.  The movie sticks to its title showing wetness to the fullest, except for scenes in Trichy, where there is plenty of sunshine.  The logical sequences are so convincing that the director deserves a pat on his shoulder for his efforts.

What is there?

  • The fact that a ghost-thriller could have logic in the story is something that makes the movie convincing enough to watch.
  • The suspense in this horror thriller retains the audiences till the movie’s end.
  • Manoj Paramahamsa Manoj Paramahamsa is a renowned cinematographer fo >> Read More... has taken up the job of handling the lens, and it is worth a watch.
  • The voice modulation and pronunciation by Aadhi are near perfect.
  • Another major strength of the movie is the special effects.

What is not there?

  • The audio is displeasing to hear.
  • Editing by Kishore T E is crisp except for the final half hour.
  • The climax could have been delivered quickly.

Verdict

A fine suspense thriller, with logic brimming in it. Worth a watch in theaters with special effects.
