Mera Naam Shaji is a comedy entertainer scripted by Dileep Ponnan and directed by "Nadirshah." Universal Cinemas’ Rakesh produced the film. Emil Muhammed composed the songs and Jakes Bejoy scored the Background music. Vinod Illampally cranked the camera and John Kutty edited the film. The movie has the star cast of Asif Ali, Biju Menon, Baiju Santhosh, Nikhila Vimal, “ Mythili,” KB Ganesh Kumar, “ Sreenivasan,” Asha Aravind, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Suresh Kumar, Savithri Sreedharan, Ranjini Haridas, Hareesh Perumanna and Soubin Shahir.

Plot

The plot deals with the incidents that happen in the lives of three people named Shaji. One of them is a cab driver, the next is a prankster and another one is a gangster.

Star Performance

Baiju Santosh had performed excellently. Asif and Biju had performed as usual. The rest of the stars have performed what is needed for their character.

Analysis

Dileep Ponnan’s script is different and Nadirshah had executed it. But, Asif Ali’s character seems to be a half-baked one. If they had written it well, then his role would also have got projected well. While seeing the star cast, everyone would have thought that the film has all the entertaining elements. But, as they hadn’t detailed some characters, the film turned out to be unimpressive. The cinematography is impressive and the music too.

What’s There?

  • Different story with some okayish performances
  • Music and cinematography are good

What’s Not There?

  • Poorly written characters
  • The comedy didn’t work out
  • Execution is not impressive

Verdict

With the weak characters and good music, the film tried to attract the audiences. But, it hadn’t landed up in the right place.
