MORE CAST & CREW
Directed by K Eshwar, 'Patharagitti' is a story of a victim of sexual abuse starring Sriki, Prajju Poovaiah, Tabla Naani in leading roles.
Plot The story is of a florist Akash (Sriki), who falls in love with Bhoomi (Prajju Poovaiah), who works at an electronic store. He proposes her, but she refuses him. But he continues to stalk her and to teach him a lesson; she plays a fake love game with him. But soon Akash realizes that Bhoomi doesn't really love him and forces her to marry him. In response, she slaps him. But then the movie moves forward where Bhoomi's family is finding Akash because they think that Akash raped Bhoomi.
But later it is revealed that this crime was done by her colleagues who are serial rapists. Akash and her brothers find them, take them to the jungle and burn them alive. Bhoomi realizes that Akash still loves her (even after her rape) and agrees to marry him.
Analysis The story of the movie is interesting, but the dialogues and script are very offensive. Director has picked a good topic, but the message sent by the film is absolutely wrong where rape is depicted as a disease and disability. Dialogues are also delivering a wrong statement. In climax too when Bhoomi agrees to marry Akash, who is a stalker, one wonders that why she falls at his feet to marry her. The direction also has many flaws as you won't be able to make a connection between the scenes.
Music of the flick is amazing, and songs are worth hearing. The cinematography is average, but editing is below par. Visuals are also stunning. Talking about the cast only Sriki and Prajju Poovaiah shows some hope. There are many actors making a guest appearance.
Star Performances Sriki has done well to portray his role of a florist and stalker. This is his second movie, and he has tried enough to live up to the script. But he lacks at important scenes and fight sequences. Prajju Poovaiah has played a decent role, but she has to work really hard to polish her acting skills. Tabla Naani has a comic track in the flick, and she has many steamy scenes too. There are few guest appearances too such as Shakeela, Bhavya, and Ramakrishna, but they fail to leave an impact.
What's there ????
1. The story of the film is impressive and has something fresh to offer to audiences.
2. Background score is melodious, and songs are like a treat to ears.
3. Cinematography and Visuals are impressive.
4. Sriki has shown few glimpses of his good acting skills.
What's not there ????
1. The flick portrays a wrong message about sexually abused people.
2. Weak editing irritates the audience as you won't be able to relate the scenes.
3. Direction too has many loopholes.
4. Despite the amazing cast, the director has failed to make the best of them.
Verdict: Such films like 'Patharagitti' are not acceptable to Indian society and portray the wrong message to the society. Watch it only if Sriki impressed you in his debut flick and you want to watch him again.
