Plot
The film is about Sandeep Singh, the Indian hockey captain, who was paralyzed after a gunshot in 2006. He was in the wheelchair for a couple of years after the gunshot. In 2008, he returned to the international hockey with a lot of confidence and in 2009, India won the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup under his captaincy. With the victory, India qualified for 2012 Olympics. These incidents form the plot of Soorma.
Star Performance
This is one of the best performances of Diljit Dosanjh and he had carried the film completely at his shoulders. As usual, Taapsee is at her best. Angad Bedi’s performance needs a special mention. Satish Kaushik and Kulbhushan Kharbanada had done their roles perfectly.
Analysis
Shaad Ali has used his full potential to bring out the best. His direction is good and the scenes make us feel it realistic and the film has less dramatic events too. There are a lot of scenes that project patriotism, which made the audiences emotional. The BGM is impressive but the songs are not. The technical and production values are appreciable. The casting director should be appreciated for the artist selection.
