Chirantan Das is a stellar Indian cinematographer in films like Sankat City (2009), Tanu Weds Manu (2011), Lakshmi (2014), Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015), and Sanam Teri Kasam (2016). His movie ‘ Commando 2’ awaited with an eagerness which is directed by Deven Bhojani. Commando 2 stars Vidyut Jamwa, Adah Sharma and Esha Gupta in the lead roles. It is said that in this movie many scenes have been extensively shot in Malaysia and this is what people were really talking about. It is said that the camera angles were apt with this action flicked many audiences.

But this was a very different movie from what Chirantan Das had done in ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ or even in ‘Tanu Wes Manu Returns’, Tanu Weds Manu had a family set up where else Comando-2, was an action feast. Das has worked with award-winning directors like Anand L.Rai and Nagesh Kukunoor. Whether it is ‘ Mod’ or 'Dhanak’, the director of photography had been perfectly in sync with the story and this helped to set the film’s rustic and charmingly guileless atmosphere. In every movie, he has aided some wonderful cinematic effects that helped the director of the movie to even win a national award. This helped Kukunoor or even Anand L Rai to paint their frames in the classic Hindi films like ’Tanu Weds Manu’ or ‘Dhanka’ with a mold of vibrant pastels and helping the feel-good quality of this movie.

Even his camera work in ‘Sanam Teri Kasam; has captured the two lovers like a Romeo Juliet movie. In this movie, Das cinematography creates a universe of the affectionate image of two lovers like Romeo- Juliet which is played by Harshvardha Rane and Mowra Hocane and helps the two protagonists to be a natural scene-stealer filling the frames with splendor. It may be noted that the ace cinematographer has shot exclusive slum scene for a movie titled ‘Sanket City’ which won him laurels. Chirantan Das also teaches students about the motion of photography to the student of Pune FTII institute.
