Plot

Jatin, a law student who lives in Mumbai, is in love with a girl named Barkhaa, a bar dancer. In the police station of Chamba, Himachal Pradesh, Jatin came to file a report of his lost camera and there he see Barkhaa, who has come to return his camera. Jatin try to talk to Barkhaa to thank her for returning his camera but, Barkhaa did not speak to him, when nothing happens Jatin came back to Mumbai. In Mumbai Jatin and his friend Gullu go in a bar where Jatin again encounters Barkha, this time working as a bar dancer. He feels broken and sad to see that the person he loves is a bar dancer. Meanwhile, due to her past Barkha believes that all the men are same who only wants to spend a night with her. What is Barkha’s past that is forcing her to think like this? Will Barkha ever understand Jatin’s love? Will Jatin’s family accept Barkha? The rest of the story deals with this.

Star Performance

The performance of the main lead is not outstanding, but good enough to show the feeling of love that you get after seeing that one person, to show the feeling of pain which you get when the person you love the most leaves you, to show the feeling of betrayed which you feel when someone you trust the most betrays you, the sense of anger which you get when it comes to your self- respect. The chemistry between the main leads is notable, while the supporting cast delivers competent performances.

Analysis

The film did an excellent job by showing that how we always see bar dancers like they don’t have any self- respect, and like they are always ready to spend a night with anyone for money. But there is another side of this, which we don’t know. There is a robust dialogue in this film which is “Ye bazaar me hai, par bazaaru nahi” and there is another dialogue which says “Gareebi or Majboori kisi ko kahan laakar khada karde ye koi nahi keh sakta”. The film shows that bar dancers also have a life and they are not a public property of everyone, they also have a right to love anyone, like how Barkha loves Jatin in the film.

What’s There?

• Though there was minimal use of camera techniques in the movie, the quality of what is presented is commendable, especially the shots in Himachal Pradesh.

• There are some solid and powerful dialogues in the film.

• The film effectively communicates the message that there are some personal and financial hardships that lead individuals to the line of bar dancing

What’s Not There?

• At one point, it might be hard to follow the story because the scenes change suddenly.

Verdict

Except for a few things, the film is good and it also give a message to the audience. So if you are free and a fan of romantic movies then you can give it a try, you’ll enjoy it
