Movie Majaz, a biopic on the life of Majaz, is an attempt where money and time both got wasted, where even the simple truths of the poet’s life and time are portrayed with a bunch of faults.
Plot:Â

The success of poet's professional life as well as the fall down from peak also. The depressing love story and family drama. It was a pity that the poet who had a very big fan following in Aligarh especially young students. Majaz loved a lady in Delhi who was his admirer and already married. The woman belonged to an upper-middle-class family and was not going to break his well-going relation with his husband for a poet. But Majaz was lost in love and released some of his most romantic poems in this phase of his life.
Analysis:
The whole movie is based on a badly-constructed, melodramatic script. He later got engaged to Nazia, but she married the son a freedom fighter at last. Apart from the facts, not giving importance to the life poet and insincere depiction of this movie breaks the heart of Urdu Poetry rudely like an arrow. The attempt made by the filmmakers to introduce the romantic poet to the public is appreciable.
Star performance:
Pratyush Chatterji (Majaz), Neelima Azim (his mother), Rashmi Mishra (Nazia) and Shahab Khan (Hashim) have done quite memorable work. The character of Majaz’s father(Madhur Rehman) was not immersive. Ali Shah does his tiny role that is convincing.
