Plot

The movie is about Debika Chatterjee, an Indian immigrant mother. She used to live with her husband, Aniruddha, her son Shubh and a five-month-old daughter, Suchi, in Stavanger, Norway. Two officials from the Velfred organization (Norwegian Child Welfare Service) visit them and evaluate their parenting. Debika Chatterjee faces so many challenges. Her portrayal as a typical Indian mother who feeds her children with her own hands brings the issue of cultural differences to light, viewed as an offense by Norway foster care. They cite Debika as an insane mother and both the parents as unfit for custody of the children. Will Debika suffer silently or fight for the custody of her children? What secrets does the Velfred Organisation hide? Will Anuriddh support Debika in her fight for the custody of the children? Will she get her kids back? The movie deals with these questions.

Star Performance

Rani Mukherjee did an excellent job in her performance as Debika Chatterjee. She is very expressive in her portrayal of a middle-class Bengali housewife. She did complete justice to her character by portraying both motherhood and resilience. Anirban Bhattacharya delivered his best in the role of Aniurdh, the dominating husband of Debika Chatterjee. Even the characters with short screen time were impressive such as, Daniel Chiupek Singh and Balaji Gauri. Both of them delivered powerful and impactful dialogues.
